While there are no requirements for periodic calibration, running the pachymetry calibration will ensure accurate measurement of the corneal thickness.
See page 82 of the instructions for use (IFU) for full details.
While performing a calibration, please NOTE:
To run the pachymetry calibration, from the CellChek main menu, click on Utilities and then the #10 PACHY button.
The pachymetry calibration eye can be found within the plastic toolbox provided with your microscope. Carefully remove the eye's plastic cover and install it by placing the top magnets under the forehead rest.
On the CellChek pachy calibration screen, enter the numberic μm value found on your calibration eye. Ensure it is aligned within the preview window and click the green start button to begin.
Once calibration is running, progress will be displayed. Do not touch the system or table and ensure there are no vibrations. Once completed, the results will be displayed and can be printed, or saved to a file by clicking the diskette button.
For proper calibration, the measurement average value should be no more than +/- 10 μm from the calibration eye's value.
* Scale calibration, which verifies the image magnification, is done by the manufacture and is never needed. For clinical trials, sponsors may require you to verify magnification for documentation purposes. In these cases, they will provide you with the special scale calibration tool or coordinate with Konan Medical USA's clinical team.
